Black and White
I guess for me, what of the most important about Portraits is of how I see the person by first getting to know them from the moment they start talking, their body language, I try to see them closer. Often I feel that I see them better as they see theirselves. Well, that was often the case.
They find imperfection in them often I don’t understand and I guess that is just our nature. But because I tend to always look for the beauty in a person, my intentions are to represent that personality into the light with their mood, their expression of just being themselves. At some point, while talking to them, there’s a split of a second when they start ignoring the camera. And then there I know I have the shot. Maybe it take an hour or two.
I shoot 100’s of photos under an hour just to get that 1 shot where they feel most comfortable and just how I believe they are theirselves. Maybe it could take just 30 min or less. But I guess, I always had this connection with people. They tend to trust me, as I trust them.
Really, communication is the key.
